GB Skips x Romford Greyhound Stadium: A New Chapter in Community, Racing, and Remembrance
At GB Skips, we’ve always believed our business is about more than just waste management—it’s about community, passion, and shared values. That’s why we’re proud to announce our three-year sponsorship of Romford Greyhound Stadium, one of the UK’s most iconic greyhound racing venues.
To kick off our sponsorship, we hosted a special customer and staff appreciation event at Romford Dogs on 27th September 2024—and it was a night to remember.
This sponsorship is especially close to our hearts because it stems from the personal passion of our director, Patrick, who has long been a devoted supporter of greyhound racing. For him, the sport represents more than just speed and competition—it’s about tradition, connection, and energy. Inspired by this love, we’ve made it our mission to support the sport and the community around it in a meaningful way.

From the moment the gates opened, the stadium buzzed with excitement. The evening featured 12 thrilling greyhound races, where our customers and team members had the chance to socialize, network, place their bets, and cheer on the stars of the track. It was the perfect mix of business and pleasure, bringing together familiar faces and new friends in an atmosphere of shared enjoyment.

The highlight of the evening came with the final race, proudly sponsored by GB Skips, and it didn’t disappoint. Taking centre stage were two outstanding greyhounds: Links Maverick and Not So Slow.
- Links Maverick, trained by Tom Heilbron, is co-owned by Tom Heilbron, Kevin Heilbron, Trevor Rush, and David Wilson.
- Not So Slow is trained by the highly respected Patrick Janssens and owned by Patrick Janssens Racing.
As the race began, the crowd was on edge, cheering with every stride. Both greyhounds gave it everything they had, but it was Links Maverick who powered through the final stretch to claim victory and a £3,000 grand prize.

The win was a fantastic moment for trainer Tom Heilbron and the ownership team—a testament to their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to everyone involved in this incredible performance!
While the night was filled with excitement, it was also marked by a meaningful cause close to our hearts. We held a charity raffle in memory of our beloved colleague, Georgina, who sadly passed away in 2024.
Georgina was a treasured part of the GB Skips family—her warmth, kindness, and laughter are deeply missed. In her honour, we raised over £1,050 for St Clare Hospice, an incredible organization that supported her and her loved ones. Thank you to everyone who contributed—it was a beautiful way to keep her memory alive.
What’s Next? June 2025 and Beyond
The success of this event has only motivated us to do more. We’re already planning our next big night at Romford Dogs on Friday 13th June 2025, and we can’t wait to welcome even more of our customers to join in the fun.
Our partnership with Romford Stadium is about creating moments—moments of celebration, competition, and connection.
Whether you’re a long-time racing fan or just looking for a great night out, we’d love to see you there.

To everyone who joined us in September, and to all those who continue to support our journey—thank you. Your energy, generosity, and enthusiasm made the night unforgettable, and we’re so proud to share this experience with you.
